The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has issued a fresh warning to Kenyans against investing in two schemes following concerns over suspected fraudulent activities involving unregulated investment platforms.
In a notice released on Friday, October 16, 2026, the regulator identified Global Investment Group and QVSE as entities under investigation in connection with suspected investment-related fraud.
CMA said it was working with the Capital Markets Fraud Investigations Unit (CMFIU) to investigate the two entities as authorities seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged activities.
The regulator has also appealed to members of the public with information about cryptocurrency wallet addresses or transaction identification details linked to suspicious transfers involving the entities to share the information through its official reporting channels.
The information could assist investigators in tracing suspicious transactions and gathering evidence as the investigations continue.
CMA Issues Warning to Online Investors
The authority has urged Kenyans to exercise caution when dealing with online investment platforms, particularly those promising attractive returns without the necessary regulatory approvals.
CMA advised investors to confirm whether an investment company is licensed before depositing money or entering into any financial arrangement.
Members of the public can check the regulator’s official register of licensed entities to establish whether a company is authorised to provide investment services in Kenya.
The latest warning follows an earlier advisory issued in September 2026, when the authority flagged 15 entities suspected of offering investment services without the required licences or approvals.
Those platforms were reportedly associated with investment opportunities involving cryptocurrency, foreign exchange trading and money market funds.
The investigations are being conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other relevant agencies.
Kenyans Urged to Verify Investment Platforms
The latest advisory comes as online investment opportunities continue attracting people looking for ways to grow their savings and generate additional income.
However, unregulated platforms can expose investors to financial losses, especially where operators make misleading promises or fail to meet regulatory requirements.
CMA has therefore urged the public to verify investment providers before committing their money and to report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
Investors are also encouraged to be cautious of platforms that promise unusually high returns or pressure people to deposit money without giving them sufficient time to verify the opportunity.
The regulator’s warning serves as a reminder that checking a company’s licensing status is an important step before considering any investment.
The investigations involving Global Investment Group and QVSE remain ongoing, and the allegations should not be treated as proof of guilt.
