Pastor Ezekiel Odero is among Kenya’s most recognised religious leaders, but his journey to prominence reportedly began in a humble family background in Rusinga Island, Homa Bay County.
Before becoming the founder of New Life Church, the preacher experienced financial difficulties that affected his education and early career.
According to his published biography, Odero initially studied at Mombasa Polytechnic, now known as the Technical University of Mombasa, where he pursued Chemical Processing Technology. However, financial challenges forced him to leave during his second year.
He later became involved in church ministry and worked alongside other religious leaders before establishing New Life Church with his wife, Pastor Sarah Odero.
Today, his ministry is associated with a large church complex in Mavueni, Kilifi County, alongside several other developments.
His personal life, educational background, family and reported wealth have also attracted considerable public interest.
What do you think contributes most to the rise of influential religious leaders in Kenya: their personal stories, preaching styles or the size of their ministries?
