The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced new dates for its ward-level grassroots elections in 10 counties as the ruling party continues to organise its leadership structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a notice issued on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the party’s Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee outlined the schedule for the affected counties, with the remaining elections set to take place on October 31.

According to the notice, Samburu County was scheduled to hold its grassroots elections on Friday, October 16, while Tana River, Vihiga, Nakuru, Marsabit and Isiolo were scheduled to conduct their polls on Saturday, October 17.

The final group consists of Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Bomet counties, where the elections are scheduled for Saturday, October 31.

The elections form part of UDA’s wider grassroots recruitment and leadership process, which aims to establish party structures at the ward level across the country.

During the earlier stages of the exercise, hundreds of thousands of candidates competed for positions at polling centres. The elected representatives are expected to play a key role in choosing ward congress officials across Kenya’s 1,450 wards.

Under the party’s framework, each polling centre elects a 20-member committee representing different groups, including farmers, businesspeople, professionals, religious communities, young people and special-interest groups.

UDA has also outlined procedures for handling complaints arising from the grassroots elections. Candidates and other aggrieved party members are required to submit disputes within 24 hours of the declaration of results or the decision that gives rise to the complaint.

The committee will receive and determine disputes relating to the electoral exercise.

The grassroots elections are part of the party’s preparations as political parties begin organising their structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Party members in the affected counties are expected to follow the announced timetable and any further official communication from UDA.
