East African Legislative Assembly MP Winnie Odinga strongly denounced businessman Oketch in a fiery interview on Citizen TV’s The Explainer with Yvonne Okwara, dismissing his assertions about being present during her father Raila Odinga’s final moments as outright falsehoods.
Winnie described Salah as someone she had met only once, emphasizing that “nobody really knows him.”
She labeled his claims of witnessing Raila’s death and related events as “flat-out lies,” arguing that fabricating such details is “quite dangerous” and raises serious questions about his motives.
The ODM founder’s daughter went further, calling for immediate action: she urged that Salah be “rushed to either Mathare or DCI with immediate effect,” implying concerns over his mental state or potential criminal intent in spreading misinformation about the late opposition leader’s passing.

The outburst highlights deepening tensions within ODM circles following Raila Odinga’s death, where Salah has positioned himself as a close confidant and “adopted son,” accompanying Raila during his medical trips abroad and sharing personal accounts publicly. Winnie’s remarks reject this narrative, framing it as exploitative.
Oketch Salah has since responded, standing by his statements while choosing initial restraint out of respect for Raila’s widow, Ida Odinga, and promising a fuller clarification in a forthcoming interview.

The exchange underscores ongoing divisions in the Odinga family and party as they navigate legacy, leadership, and truth in the post-Raila era.
