National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Dr. Moses Wetang’ula announced the renewal of a joint political pact.
The alliance involves Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, and Wetang’ula himself, aimed at bolstering support for President H.E. Dr. William Ruto in the Western region while positioning the Luhya community strategically for the 2032 presidential succession.
The declaration came during the burial of former Councillor Hon. Johnstone Barasa in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
Wetang’ula urged former Cabinet Secretary Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, who was in attendance, to join the coalition, emphasizing that unity would fortify the “Mulembe Nation” vote and enhance community influence in national politics. He highlighted the need for cohesive leadership to deliver on regional priorities.

Wetang’ula also advocated for an end to confrontational politics, calling on the youth to engage responsibly on social media platforms.
The event, captured in photos showing solemn funeral proceedings, a casket adorned with flowers, and dignitaries addressing mourners, underscored the blend of mourning and political maneuvering common in Kenyan public gatherings.
This pact signals a potential realignment in Luhya politics, which has historically been fragmented.

Analysts suggest it could strengthen Ruto’s base ahead of future elections, though critics question its impact on national unity.
