Former Vice President Kamala Harris is one of President Donald Trump’s top critics and today, she was back on it again as she criticized the White House’s handling of a controversial social media post by President Donald Trump.
Harris quoted an Axios update reporting that a “racist video” depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes had been removed from Trump’s Truth Social account. The White House attributed the post to a staffer who “erroneously” uploaded it.
Harris wrote: “No one believes this cover up from the White House, especially since they originally defended the post. We are all clear-eyed about who Donald Trump is and what he believes.”
The incident unfolded rapidly. Trump shared the video late Thursday night as part of content promoting 2020 election conspiracy theories.
It remained online for nearly 12 hours, drawing bipartisan outrage—including from Republican senators like Tim Scott, who called it “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House.”

The White House initially dismissed criticism as “fake outrage” before deleting the clip and shifting blame to a staff member.
Trump himself refused to apologize, telling reporters he “didn’t make a mistake” and hadn’t seen the offensive portion before it was posted.
The episode, occurring early in Black History Month, revived criticism of Trump’s history with racial rhetoric, including past birther claims against Barack Obama.

Harris’s post garnered significant engagement, highlighting ongoing political tensions surrounding race and accountability in the current administration.
