Pauline Njoroge has ignited fresh political debate after issuing a strongly worded statement on her official X account, pushing back against claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is behind divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Her remarks come amid growing tensions in ODM and the government, particularly following Uhuru’s warm reception in ODM strongholds and during the funeral of Raila Odinga, popularly known as Baba.
According to Njoroge, Uhuru Kenyatta’s sustained popularity, even in regions traditionally aligned to ODM, has unsettled some political players. She argues that rather than addressing their own internal disagreements, certain leaders have chosen to scapegoat the former president.
In her view, the real challenge facing ODM is not external interference but deep-rooted divisions within the party itself. Njoroge points to a clear disconnect between ODM leaders who are comfortable enjoying the benefits of the broad-based government and a younger generation that is increasingly dissatisfied with the status quo.
She notes that many young leaders are not pro-government and are eager to chart a different political path, creating friction within the party’s ranks.

Dismissing claims that Uhuru has ulterior motives, Njoroge emphasizes that the former president is not a candidate in the 2027 elections and has nothing to gain from dividing ODM.
Instead, she describes him as a widely respected and much-loved statesman whose influence naturally attracts attention wherever he goes.
Her message concludes with a sharp rebuke to political propaganda and intrigue, urging leaders to confront uncomfortable truths rather than manufacture enemies.

The statement has since sparked intense discussion online, highlighting the simmering tensions within Kenya’s opposition politics.
