Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula made bold claims about the shifting political landscape in Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As reported by NTV Kenya through their official X account, Savula asserted that the current political momentum, or “wave,” in the region strongly favors President William Ruto.
He dismissed the influence of Eugene Wamalwa, the leader of the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K), stating that Wamalwa “does not control Mulembe Nation”—a term referring to the Luhya community.
Savula further alleged that Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is “secretly trying to join Ruto,” suggesting behind-the-scenes realignments amid reported tensions within DAP-K.
These statements come against a backdrop of internal party friction in DAP-K, including past disputes between Wamalwa and Natembeya, and Savula’s own reported shift toward Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a related segment, Savula discussed strategies to deliver up to 2.6 million votes from Western Kenya for Ruto in 2027, highlighting phone conversations and collaborative efforts with key local leaders.

The remarks underscore ongoing political maneuvering in the region, where alliances could significantly impact national outcomes.
As 2027 approaches, such public declarations signal intensifying competition for voter loyalty in this crucial voting bloc.
