Former senior advisor in President William Ruto’s administration, Moses Kuria, has dismissed allegations by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who accused him of funding ex-Mungiki leader Maina Njenga to destabilize Mt Kenya politics.
Taking to his X account on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Kuria responded with biting sarcasm, stating, “Rigathi Gachagua has accused me during his US tour of funding and supporting Maina Njenga. I am guilty as charged.” He criticized Gachagua’s political style, labeling him a master of deceit and division.
Kuria questioned Gachagua’s moral standing, pointing out what he termed as hypocrisy. “I learnt from the best. I was in the room when Rigathi paid the same people money to steal Uhuru Kenyatta’s goats from Northlands,” Kuria claimed, referring to the 2023 Northlands invasion which was widely condemned.
Kuria’s remarks signal escalating tensions within the Mt Kenya political landscape as leaders jostle for influence ahead of the 2027 general election. His claims also shed light on internal rifts and historical grievances among former allies within the ruling coalition.
Gachagua is yet to respond to Kuria’s allegations.
