Today, Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara issued a stern warning to President William Ruto over his increasingly close relationship with Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah.
Speaking after her released, Kihara cautioned that Ichung’wah’s growing influence around the President could prove detrimental to Ruto’s standing in the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region.
Kihara argued that Ichung’wah does not command widespread support in the region and that relying too heavily on him could alienate key grassroots leaders and voters.
The Naivasha legislator emphasized the need for President Ruto to diversify his political alliances within Mt. Kenya, warning that the current path risks creating divisions and discontent among leaders and residents alike.
Her remarks come amid ongoing speculation over succession politics and shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kihara’s warning underscores the rift within the Kenya Kwanza coalition as leaders jostle for influence and regional dominance.
