Suna East MP and National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed has issued a sharp warning to political players ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to K24 TV through their official X account, Mohamed described a recurring “disease” that emerges during election periods, where individuals begin blaming the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as polls approach.
“Kuna ugonjwa huwa unakuja wakati kama huu, ukiona uchaguzi unakaribia unaanza kulaumu IEBC,” Mohamed stated, urging people to abandon fear (“watu waache uoga”). He emphasized that such accusations often stem from anxiety over potential outcomes.
The MP particularly highlighted the prospect of closer ties between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

He cautioned that if members from ODM and UDA unite (“watu wa ODM na UDA wakiungana”), opponents or detractors (“hao jamaa”) would face severe consequences (“watanyoroshwa mbaya sana”).
Mohamed’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about ODM’s role in the broad-based government and potential coalition negotiations with UDA for 2027.
As a key figure in ODM’s engagement with the government, his comments appear aimed at discouraging early rigging allegations—often linked to figures like former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—and promoting confidence in political alliances.

The statement has sparked reactions online, with supporters viewing it as a call for unity and critics seeing it as defensive posturing amid shifting political dynamics in Kenya.
