A teacher bravely confronted a teenage attacker inside an Oregon elementary school before a father whose children attend the institution intervened and fatally shot the suspect, according to police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred on Thursday, October 15, at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where three children and a teacher were killed in a shooting targeting a special education classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the 16-year-old suspect, identified as Griffin J. John II, was a former student at the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press briefing on Friday, authorities revealed that the teacher threw her mobile phone at the attacker before tackling him and attempting to take away his shotgun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teacher struggled with the suspect on the classroom floor in an effort to stop him. Although she was not physically injured, police credited her actions with helping prevent further casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Father Rushes Into School After Hearing Gunfire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The situation changed when a father of two girls attending the school arrived at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, the man had been driving past the school when he saw the suspect firing at a vehicle in the parking area before forcing his way into the building through a window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The father retrieved a legally carried handgun from his vehicle and entered the school, where he encountered the ongoing confrontation between the teacher and the attacker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the man fired multiple times at the suspect, killing him and bringing the attack to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz praised those who intervened, saying their courage helped prevent the tragedy from becoming even worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities said the suspect had fired as many as 15 rounds during the attack and still had approximately 44 rounds of ammunition remaining when he was stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four People Killed in School Shooting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Police identified two of the four victims as five-year-old Rhoam Summer and 25-year-old teacher Meghan Lambert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The families of the other two children, aged eight and 11, requested that their identities remain private.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two other people were injured during the incident. A seven-year-old pupil was reported to be in serious but stable condition, while a 54-year-old teacher was receiving hospital treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack has left families and the wider school community mourning the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police Investigate Motive Behind Attack<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Investigators are continuing to establish how the teenager obtained the firearm, how he travelled to the school and what motivated the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the suspect had previously attended Silver Rail Elementary, including its special education programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have searched his home as part of the investigation, but they have not publicly established a motive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident has renewed concerns about school safety in the United States, particularly the protection of children and teachers from gun violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
