The vehicle was suspected to belong to one of the officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following their arrest, the two officers were escorted to EACC&#8217;s Upper Eastern Regional Office in Isiolo for processing and recording of their statements as investigations continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest arrests come amid renewed efforts by the commission to tackle alleged bribery and corruption among public officers responsible for enforcing traffic laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EACC Also Arrests NTSA Official<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a separate incident reported on the same day, EACC arrested a clerical officer attached to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) headquarters over allegations of soliciting a bribe to facilitate the processing of a driving licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The official was accused of demanding KSh18,000 from a matatu driver. Investigators reportedly arrested the suspect while he was receiving KSh8,000, allegedly part of the demanded amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NTSA official was later released on a cash bail of KSh50,000 as the investigation proceeded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest cases highlight the commission&#8217;s ongoing efforts to investigate alleged corruption involving public officers and improve accountability in government services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the allegations against the arrested individuals remain subject to investigation and do not amount to proof of guilt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two traffic police officers over allegations of soliciting and receiving bribes from motorists along the Maua-Makutano Road in Meru County.
