Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Dr. Alutalala Mukhwana firmly dismissed claims that Kenyan elections can be easily manipulated.
Speaking during an event tied to public outreach efforts, the commissioner emphasized the robust safeguards implemented by the IEBC to protect the electoral process.
Dr. Mukhwana highlighted key voter identification and verification measures, including the mandatory use of national identity cards, biometric fingerprint verification, and iris recognition technology.
These multi-layered systems, he stated, make it virtually impossible for unauthorized individuals to access polling stations or cast fraudulent votes.
“The voting procedures currently in place make it impossible for an unregistered person to vote,” he asserted, underscoring the security and design focused on maintaining electoral integrity.
The remarks come amid preparations for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for February 26, 2026, as part of broader efforts to build public confidence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The commissioner encouraged eligible citizens to register and participate actively, assuring that the processes will ensure peaceful, free, fair, and credible outcomes.
