Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has sparked reactions online after sharing a reflective and emotional post following the reported death of renowned Nigerian preacher Dr. Uma Ukpai.
Through his official X account, Salasya described Ukpai as a “powerful preacher” who passed away at the age of 80.
The legislator revealed that he had been listening to Ukpai’s old sermons earlier in the morning, unaware that the preacher had died on his 80th birthday.
However, Salasya’s message took a puzzling turn when he mentioned receiving “another sad news of baba’s death at 80 years old,” seemingly referring to ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The MP expressed confusion about circulating news and admitted he was “still not convinced to write [ his ] message of condolences.”
He also mentioned that he had noticed billboards advertising the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Mombasa but was unsure whether the much-publicized event had actually taken place.
Salasya’s post, which included photos of both Dr. Uma Ukpai and Raila Odinga, has left many Kenyans reacting as Baba’s death came in as a shock to many.
