Nancy Pelosi, the former House Speaker Emerita, marked Presidents’ Day with a pointed critique of former President Donald Trump, contrasting him with past leaders who upheld the rule of law and defended the Constitution.
In a post shared via her @TeamPelosi account, Pelosi wrote: “On #PresidentsDay, we celebrate US Presidents who stood for the rule of law, defended our Constitution and didn’t rip away jobs and health care from millions of Americans to pay for billionaires’ tax cuts.”
She accused certain policies—widely interpreted as referencing the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and related Republican efforts—of prioritizing tax breaks for the wealthy over ordinary citizens’ well-being, including access to employment and healthcare protections like those under the Affordable Care Act.
Pelosi concluded with a rallying call ahead of the upcoming November midterms: “In November, we’ll save our Democracy at the kitchen table.” The phrase evokes everyday American conversations deciding the nation’s future through voting.

The post included a clip from her appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” where she joined host Doug Emhoff from the Munich Security Conference. In the segment, Pelosi emphasized global concerns about American democracy and domestic threats to it.
Her message underscores ongoing Democratic opposition to perceived threats against democratic institutions and social safety nets, framing the midterms as a pivotal moment to protect core values.
