Mumias East MP Peter Salasaya has accused Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna of engaging in political theatrics designed to mislead Kenyans ahead of the 2027 general election.
Through his official X account, Salasaya described Sifuna’s ongoing fight against certain developments within ODM — while still professing loyalty to the party — as a deliberate tactic.
He argued it aims to create a false sense of opposition among citizens disillusioned with President William Ruto’s regime, ultimately trapping them in confusion.
Salasaya pointed to past events as evidence, noting Sifuna’s silence during the late Raila Odinga’s efforts to defend the controversial Adani deal.
He also referenced the unfulfilled Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), suggesting the recent dramatic ouster of Sifuna as ODM Secretary General is arranged and part of a broader script.
“If Sifuna is genuine, let him fully break from ODM and declare his stand without the games,” Salasaya urged, emphasizing that Kenyans deserve transparency over such maneuvers.

This comes amid heightened tensions in ODM following Sifuna’s removal by the party’s NEC, which he has vowed to challenge legally, insisting he remains loyal to the party’s founding principles and rejecting any full merger with UDA for 2027.
Salasaya’s critique highlights deepening divisions within opposition circles as the next election approaches.
