Opposition leader Eugene L. Wamalwa has vowed to resist what he describes as state-backed demolitions and evictions in Mavoko, Machakos County, through legal and parliamentary channels.
Through his official X account, Wamalwa quoted Thomas Jefferson: “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”
He explained that while opposition figures were at Vigilance House protesting police brutality, harassment, and targeting of opponents, residents of Mavoko raised the alarm about an imminent, state-supported demolition and eviction exercise.
The group responded swiftly, rushing to the area to hear directly from affected residents. Wamalwa announced a dual strategy of resistance: a legal team led by advocate Ndegwa Njiru (@NjiruAdv) to challenge the actions in court, and a parliamentary effort spearheaded by Minority Leader Hon. Robert Mbui to address the issue on the floor of Parliament.

Wamalwa emphasized that Kenyans would not be displaced silently, declaring that impunity would face firm, lawful, and relentless opposition.
The post included photos of him addressing crowds and standing in solidarity with residents amid the gathering, under the hashtag #WANTAM.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions over land rights and evictions in the region, with opposition figures positioning themselves as defenders against alleged state-sanctioned injustices.
