Barcelona sporting director Deco has shed light on the club’s recent move to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, clarifying the details of the deal that brought the England international to Camp Nou.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Deco confirmed that Rashford joined Barcelona on a simple loan agreement with an option to buy, stressing that the financial terms of the deal are favorable to the Catalan giants.
“We signed Marcus on a simple loan with an option to buy. It’s not a high fee,” Deco stated.
The structure of the deal means Barcelona faces no penalties should they decide not to activate the permanent transfer clause.
“There are no penalties if we do not sign him permanently. He’s doing great, we are very happy… the final decisions come later,” Deco added.
Rashford’s arrival marks one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer, as the 26-year-old forward seeks to rediscover his best form away from Old Trafford.
After a difficult campaign at Manchester United, the loan move provides him with a fresh start in La Liga under manager Hansi Flick, who reportedly pushed for his inclusion in the squad.
