Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has once again accused President Yoweri Museveni’s government of deliberately frustrating his political activities ahead of the 2026 elections.
Through his official X account, the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader claimed that the Electoral Commission initially raised “ridiculous claims” about his nomination papers, alleging he had not submitted enough signatures.
According to Bobi Wine, this was a calculated move designed to delay his nomination and prevent him from sharing the same nomination day with President Museveni.

“As predicted by many Ugandans, the claims about us not submitting enough signatures were intended to push our date of nomination. The cowardly regime did not want us to be nominated on the same day as Museveni,” he stated.
Bobi Wine revealed that although the Electoral Commission eventually confirmed he had successfully met all requirements and issued him a certificate of compliance, his nomination was shifted from Tuesday, September 23, to Wednesday, September 24, at 2:00 pm.
He argued that the timing was deliberately set to interfere with his campaign schedule, particularly his plan to hold two rallies on the day of his nomination.
“Pushing it to 2:00 pm is clearly intended to frustrate our plans to have two rallies because the first one was meant to begin at midday,” he noted.

Despite the setback, Bobi Wine emphasized his determination to press ahead with his campaign, disclosing that his team had already secured venues at Katwe Grounds and Kaala Playground in Nateete for both dates.
“Nothing will stop the revolutionary cause,” he declared, rallying his supporters to remain steadfast in their pursuit of change.
