Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy and former Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho has openly declared his ambition to seek Kenya’s top seat, boldly stating that he envisions himself as a future president.
According to reports, Joho said, “I have a dream that one day, the Coast Region will produce a president. I have faith that one day, there will be a president called Hassan Joho. I want that seat, and I’m making preparations for it.”
His powerful message sparked excitement among his supporters and reignited national conversations around regional representation and inclusivity in Kenya’s highest office.

Joho, a charismatic political figure known for his eloquence and flamboyant style, has long been considered a potential presidential contender. His statement signals a clear intention to step into the national political arena in pursuit of the presidency, possibly in the coming general elections.
As a vocal ODM stalwart and close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, Joho has built a strong political base in the Coast Region. His focus on the mining and blue economy docket and coastal development gives him a unique platform to advocate for the economic transformation of marginalized regions.
Should Joho launch a serious bid, it would mark a historic moment for the Coast Region, which has never produced a president since independence. His candidacy is expected to galvanize both regional pride and national debate over Kenya’s future leadership.
